Robert Howard

About

Robert is a husband, father, artist, retired builder and former teacher who was born in Philadelphia and has lived in San Francisco since 1984. His work spans multiple mediums from ceramic sculpture and pottery, to masonry sculpture, painting and a fresco-like technique for imprinting images on a variety of surfaces.

His work has mostly addressed the unknowable. Early sculpture was an investigation of mortality: what comes before and after, and how we arrive and leave the thing we call existence. Later sculpture, paintings and “frescoes” arise from a life long interest in physics and an attempt to come to terms with the fact that physical reality is an illusion.
